Mr. Jean-Paul Denanot, president of Limousin Regional \u00a0Council welcomed the participants of the event held on 26th and 27th of March 2013, which gathered experts, local and regional level\u00a0elected \u00a0representatives \u00a0from \u00a0the \u00a0partner \u00a0regions, \u00a0beneficiaries \u00a0of subprojects, forest-owners and their associations, companies and public authorities.<\/p>\n
\u201eHarghita County Council assists construction activities through \u00a0the \u00a0exploitation \u00a0of local wood materials and this has a key role in the county development strategy\u201d, affirmed Mr. Csaba Borboly, president of Harghita County Council.\u00a0 \u00a0In \u00a0the \u00a0opening \u00a0of the conference\u00a0 \u00a0he \u00a0related about\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 county\u00a0 council\u00a0initiatives, \u00a0which \u00a0assist \u00a0young \u00a0people, \u00a0for \u00a0example \u00a0about \u00a0the \u00a0plan \u00a0of building wooden \u00a0houses \u00a0from \u00a0local \u00a0raw \u00a0materials, by \u00a0combining \u00a0traditional \u00a0and \u00a0modern energy efficient methodologies. \u201cWe plan to introduce these methods also in case of public buildings. Through the use of local raw materials, we offer solutions for social problems as well, therefore vocational training activities have to be oriented and linked to wood processing industries\u201d \u2013 considers the president.<\/p>\n
Discussions \u00a0were \u00a0continued \u00a0by \u00a0interventions \u00a0related \u00a0to \u00a0EU \u00a0wood \u00a0policies \u00a0and situation analyses \u00a0presented by Mrs. Lovisa LILLIEH\u00d6\u00d6K, officer responsible for EU wood\u00a0 \u00a0policies,\u00a0 \u00a0on\u00a0 \u00a0behalf\u00a0 \u00a0of\u00a0 \u00a0General\u00a0 \u00a0Directorate\u00a0 \u00a0for\u00a0 \u00a0Agriculture\u00a0 \u00a0and\u00a0 \u00a0Rural Development, and Mrs. Laura CANALE, head of European Affairs and International Relations Department.<\/p>\n
Mrs.\u00a0 \u00a0Roberta\u00a0 \u00a0CASAPIETRA\u00a0 \u00a0presented\u00a0 \u00a0the\u00a0 \u00a0Robinwood\u00a0 \u00a0Plus\u00a0 \u00a0project\u00a0 \u00a0and\u00a0 \u00a0the achievements in the framework of sub-projects.<\/p>\n
During \u00a0the \u00a0international \u00a0conference, \u00a0thematic \u00a0discussions \u00a0were \u00a0organised. \u00a0Here participants talked \u00a0about wood management, wood processing\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 industry, tourism biodiversity, \u00a0biomass \u00a0utilization \u00a0and \u00a0eco-education. \u00a0All \u00a0discussed \u00a0items \u00a0will \u00a0be submitted to the European Commission as a proposal.<\/p>\n
Mr. Istv\u00e1n Becze, county councillor presented the Natura2000 project and assistance of biomass production. Mr. Tibor Bajk\u00f3, suggested that wood processing company representatives have to be linked to a quota based system in order to procure raw material at market price; the raw material exports for non-EU members have to be stopped; the secondary raw material exports have to be reduced with 50% for non- EU \u00a0members and a legal system system has to be set up in order to settle the establishment of local or national wood protection fund.<\/p>\n
