Borboly Csaba was elected rapporteur for the Implementation of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field (2010-2018) in the Committe of the Regions during the Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture (SEDEC) meeting in Brusseles on 22nd September 2015.
Before the finalization of the document, Borboly Csaba holds wide range of consultations at local and international level. The first one took place on 5th October in Miercurea Ciuc, in Harghita county with representatives of youth organizations and competent professionals in the field. Csaba Borboly explained that in his opinion one of the biggest problems in Europe is that most of the time politicians are neglectful with young people.
- Our time is limited, because we need to send our preliminary work to the CoR until 21st October. I undertook the assignment to be rapporteur for this opinion, because I will be able to draw attention also to the situation in Romania, and we gain access to validate our point of view – stated Csaba Borboly. During the consultations, compromises have to be done with the representatives from the other member states, and representatives of all political parties.
From the communication of the European Commission (on which the opinion is based on) it turns out, that it is considered quite a problematic issue. Never has been so highly educated youth, but the situation is twofold: regarding education, the situation is good, but unemployment strongly affects this generation, to the greatest extent since the II World War, and the engagement of political and public life is at a low rate. This is why European Commission and the CoR wants to take a more active role in changing this - outlined the László Csák.
The opinion will be debated in November during commission meeting, and the final version will be adopted at February’s plenary meeting of the CoR.
