The victim of weekend’s bear attack needed operation
“The young man from Leliceni is now being operated, who was attacked by a bear in a planted forest. His was stable, but unfortunately a very quick intervention was required, because his arm has broken into pieces in two places, and it began to show an inflammation around his heart, these information were given by his doctor” stated the president of Harghita County Council, Csaba Borboly, on his social website.
Before the surgery we could take an interview with the 38 years old victim from Leliceni, when he was laying at the emergency in the County Hospital from Miercurea Ciuc. In the video uploaded on his social website can be heard what has happened: as usual he was in the forest to collect mushrooms or nuts, when suddenly the bear attacked him. It was so sudden, that he could not be able to protect himself. Finally he could fight it away with his pepper spray.
Csaba Borboly remembers that the last bear attack was 66 days ago at Dănești, at 24th June, when a shepherd was injured by a bear. Right after this incident a request was applied to Lady Minister, Grațiela Gavrilescu, in order to achieve shooting qvota for bears which attack people. Even though the Lady Minister approved to shoot 140 dangerous bears at 5th July’s protest in Bucharest, the publication of the promised regulation at 8th August is still undone.
Since then several attacks happened: a daylight attack happened on the forest road, in Zetea at 6th July. Regarding the interview, the victim had injures on his head, arm and leg. After two days, two shepherds were bitten by a bear near Mădăraș, and transported to the hospital immediately at 8th July. A herdsman was attacked Sunday morning near Voșlăbeni, the 28 years old man was injured at his thighs and his forearm. The victim was transported to the Hospital from Gheorgheni, and he is under observation.
“This is unacceptable the Lady Minister plays with people’s lives! We will ask for help to the ombudsman and anti-discrimination council!” stated Csaba Borboly.
