On 15th of June about 70 producers participated from all around the county in the local monthly fair in Miercurea Ciuc, where customers could buy traditional Sekler products. On every third Saturday of each month, Harghita County Council organizes this event for offering support and help for local producers in selling their products. At the same time the county council aims to offer the possibility for the inhabitants to buy healthy and traditional products within the framework of these fairs.
The fairs proved that there is a great demand for local products, therefore a lot of people would like to have this kind of event more frequently, since the fairs present the only occasion when all sort of local products may be found and bought in one place.
A wide range of local and traditional products could be purchased in the fair organized in June. Among others, the customers could choose from meat products (homemade ham, sausage, bacon, etc.), dairy-products (cow-, sheep-, goat-, and buffalo cheese, cottage cheese, etc.), different kind of honey products (wattle, alpine, combined, and linden honey), homemade bread, bakery products, homemade cookies, eggs, jams, vegetables and some folk craft products.
Besides the use of local and human resources, as well as the possibility of selling the traditional homemade products made by local producers, the fairs play an important role in preserving and passing on the traditional products and crafts for the young generations.
