Harghita County Council celebrated with thematic days the Europe Day, organized in the period of 9-14th of May 2014. The majority of activities were organized at the county council building in Miercurea Ciuc (Csíkszereda). The main goal of all events lies in raising the attention that the European spirituality will reach its results if people take advantage of the offered possibilities and voice out their views and opinions. The event-series encompasses such thematic days which include talent, cultural, sport, historic, and cavalcade days. During the programmes, the interested local inhabitants could participate in exhibitions, sport and drawing competitions, movie projections and other interesting programs, as well. More information is available on the www.harghitacounty.ro webpage or the Facebook profile of the event: www.facebook.com/Euhet.
The main objective of the Europe Day event-series organized by Harghita County Council resides in the endeavour to inform local population about the role of the European Parliament, its activities, and amongst all the possibilities for gaining experiences within the EU, about EU level projects, volunteering, and legal regulations, and last but not least putting an emphasis on social issues and the youth’s employment in the European Union.
Since 1985, the Europe Day is celebrated on 9th of May. On 9th of May 1950, on the Day of Victory, Mr. Robert Schuman, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of France declared that ‘Europe cannot be built in a day, neither as part of a plan based on some absolute priority, Europe will be realized through practical results, one step of which lies in setting a common goal.’
The co-organizers of the Europe-Day in Harghita County were: the Cultural Centre of Harghita County, Energy Management Agency of Harghita County, Emergency Hospital of Harghita County, Sport Club Association of Harghita County, the “Kájoni János” Library of Harghita County, Council of Youth Territorial Organization in Miercurea Ciuc, Student Government of Sapientia University, Ciuc Mothers’ Association, DAHR’s Ciuc Territorial Organization, as well as the “Kemény János” Theoretical School in Toplița (Maroshévíz).
