After the extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly of Heves County, Hungary, on 15th of August, Mr. Csaba Borboly, president of Harghita County Council and Mr. Róbert Szabó, president of the General Assembly of Heves County signed a twinning cooperation agreement. Mr. Róbert Szabó Róbert, in his speech said that this collaboration offers a possibility to establish a closer collaboration with Seklerland, as well as it may further strengthen the preservation of the common identity.
Mr. Csaba Borboly affirmed that this twinning cooperation, signed with Heves County from Hungary offers great opportunities in the fields of economics, education, and culture. He emphasized the importance of launching common economical projects since Hungary is the third most important economic partner of Romania, while Romania is the second for Hungary, in this regard. However, for the time being, out of these relations a little is realized in Seklerland, rather Bucharest or the settlements near the border are favoured. These economic relations have to be encouraged between Seklerland and Hungary. He also added that he hopes that the Hungarian-Hungarian relations will be further strengthened, too.
Furthermore, through the established twinning relation, serious relation systems can be realized between civil organizations, church, and state institutions from the two counties, as well.
After the twinning cooperation agreement has been signed, a book presentation was held by Mr. István Berei, member of the delegation from Harghita County Council. The audience could have an insight into the following books: Symbols in Seklerland, as well as Coat-of-Arms and seal in Seklerland.
