Many people from Bucharest were interested about the Sekler products

A Sekler-product fair was organized, entitled 12th Ozosep (A local traditional song’s title), in Bucharest last week. It was organized by the Hungarian Economists’ Society of Romania (AEMR) an organization with an office in Bucharest, in collaboration with the Harghita County Council and its sub-institution the Agricultural Chamber of Harghita County. The event had taken place in the first district at the Ameze market, where 26 producers from Seklerland attended.

According to the organization office’s President, Nagy-Bege Zoltán, aprox. 3000 visitors appeared at this event. Visitors and customers were attracted by local products like goulash, traditional made cabbages, chicken paprikash, chimney cake and fried dough. Also, the good atmosphere was provided by live concert, as an example Petra Acker and Britta Seidner singing a duet.

Orsolya Juhász-Borsa, the Vice-President of this organization’s office, announced that the next fair will be held in September, the aim is to keep the city-central place in order to increase the number of visitors and customers, not only people who heard about the event from the internet. According to the Vice-President, there is an opportunity to enlarge the fair and this is proven year by year.  She also added that thanks to this fair, the gastronomy from Seklerland will get closer to people’s hearts from Bucharest. Therefore, there is a chance that their interest about our region will increase in people’s eyes from Bucharest.

Csaba Borboly, the President of Harghita County Council, supporting this event with the help of the Agricultural Chamber of Harghita County stated that they would like to continuously promote Sekler products nationally as well as internationally, moreover achieving Sekler products to get into supermarket chains, which is already accomplished, but they would like to broaden the circle.

• Protecting the Sekler Product trademark years ago, was our most successful initiation. We helped more than a hundred producers to get income by creating this trademark and participating at fairs – declared the President of the County Council.
