Beside Mr. Csaba Borboly’s, president of Harghita County Council and permanent member of the Committee of the Regions, draft opinion entitled European higher education in the world, uniformly accepted and voted by the Committee of the Regions (CoR) on its 105th Plenary Session, some other amendments were also accepted by the CoR, being submitted by him in two other important fields as well. Namely, the voted amendments concern the recommendations on the new European forest management strategy related to forest and forest-based sector, respectively the pollution policy.
The first amendment regarding forest management, calls the attention on the increase of employment, on the fact that in order to motivate innovation it would be important to have beneficial taxation conditions in wood architecture for small and medium-sized enterprises. This would also foster the implementation of regional policies and the establishment of networks. In addition, as it is laid down in the amendment, it is essential the decentralized, sustainable communication with local concerned people for the purpose of elaborating a common forest culture aimed at the local acceptance of multidirectional forest development policies and also for the aim of operatively putting these into practice.
Mr. Csaba Borboly concluded the following: ‘the Committee of the Regions accepted more amendments within the field of forest management, and rejected one recommendation which would have assured support on behalf of the European Union for family and smaller enterprises. However, the amendment, which was accepted offers greater possibility to local communities to voice out their views, the proposal concentrating on the importance of developing stronger collaborations among the concerned parties. The fact that the recommendations were accepted bears great significance on the ground that in this way they will be surely included in the European legislation.’
As referred to, the president of Harghita County Council, being the rapporteur of the Committee of the Regions presented the draft opinion in theme of European higher education in the world, which was unanimously voted by the CoR.
