According to the county council president the close-up process of Republic of Moldova has to be supported
Mr. Csaba Borboly, president of Harghita County Council called the attention on the importance of EU funding for local community works, as well as the support for the close-up process of Republic of Moldova by all possible means, on the meeting of the Committee of the Regions and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, organized in Paris on 9th of December. As the county council president declared, the local comunity works, for example the investments and developments realized through the involvement of local peoples’ help by working for a common goal, should be recognized and accordingly supported within the European Union. In his opinion, this has even great importance in a time of crisis when local communities have to do greater effort for solving their problems. For this very reason, Mr. Csaba Borboly pointed out the importance of supporting the local communities’ such endeavor and initiatives.
He stated that ‘these efforts on local level even contribute to the sustainable development, which is also the main goal of Europe2020 strategy’.
Furthermore, referring to the Vilnius Declaration adopted in the 3rd Eastern Partnership Summit between the period of 28th and 29th of November 2013, regarding the collaboration between the European Union and the South Eastern countries, among them Moldova and Ukraine, the county council president considers that the meetings and discussions aimed at developing collaborations with the Republic of Moldova have to be supported by all possible means. Mr. Csaba Borboly, as being the rappourter of the Committe of the Regions expressed his particular gratitude because the mentioned declaration tackles with great attention the issue of European higher education. Moreover, despite the current difficulties, he also hopes that a fruitful relation will be developed between the European Union and Ukraine.
Mr. Oleksiy Goncharenko, the vice-president of Odessa Regional Council from Ukraine, expressed his gratefulness for Mr. Csaba Borboly’s kind words, and claimed that in Ukraine the civil society gets stronger, which is a good thing for the whole Eastern Europe.
Finally, in the course of the meeting other subjects that were brought into discussion were the European multilevel governance and decentralization, neighbourhood policy, transfrontier collaborations, and last but not least the Eastern Partnership programme as well.
