Owing to organizers of the event a lot of people were curious about the Sekler Families Day and gathered near the monument of Dâmbul Tătarilor. The Saint Francis Foundation of Deva, Mayor’s Office of Lăzarea, Harghita County Council, Lăzarea Cultural and Ar Centre were the organizers of the event. During the unconventional worship Mr. Csaba Böjte hold a mass about the stresses, strains and rows between people. He mentioned the example of Jesus and Saint László underlining that we have to ask ourselves: how we deal with the questions of “reception” and “integration”? Meanwhile the audience could enjoy the sacred music played by the Role Band.
―We brought the flag of Gábor Bethlen, who was the most important person born in this village, having been elected as the monarch of Transylvania four hundred years ago. At that time there were a lot of civil wars, tension between people; between the Bethlen family and Seklers, while the churches were in war with each other too. Gábor Bethlen had an intelligent awareness on how to deal with people, how to manage the pressure and that is why he was a great person and leader. ― said Mr. Csaba Böjte emphasizing other examples of the history which are based on the willingness of peace.
At the end of the holy mass, the Franciscan monk wished everybody the courage to collaborate in public and private life saying that „please God, give us the power to recognize the meaning of Gábor Bethlen’s flag and to always remember of it in our heart. Give us the power for embroidering on the flag our wife’s, children’s, neighbor’s, priest’s and mayor’s symbols.”
Mr. Csaba Borboly, president of Harghita County Council said that we have to put an end to the dissension and instead of this to concentrate on love, atonement and on caring for each other.
―There is no need for the fight and revenge between Hungarian people and I do not believe that there is good Hungarian or even better Hungarian here in Transylvania, who based on their beliefs may despise communities with less Hungarians. I don’t believe that we have to speak about right or left side. I believe that our ultimate goal should be to stay and live in harmony here on our native land and for this very purpose we always have to be aware and remember the life of our outstanding historical heroes, as was Gábor Bethlen or Ferenc Deák. - said the president, mentioning also that ‘the Latin word „pars” means pieces and I don’t believe that the pieces of our community have to fight with each other’.
The county council president also brought into discussion that our common purpose is to create good living circumstances for our children. For this very purpose, in collaboration with the church, we should seek for finding solutions favorable for everybody regarding the occurring tensions in public life. He said that ’we have to break down the walls, all beliefs and difficulties what we built for ourselves all these years. We have to understand that we are not each other’s enemy and we have to have the courage to tell about our problems to the elected leaders and politicians’.
Based on traditions, all big families were rewarded at the Sekler Families Day. The prices were given to them by Mr. Tihamér Barti, county councilor and the leaders of Lăzarea community.
