Dear Colleagues,
I find this conclusion highly useful for several reasons.
First of all, I would like to welcome the fact that we prioritize and highly support short food chains, endorsing the market presence of those producers who have inadequate conditions to be present on the wholesale market.
We have a similar initiative in Harghita county, the Szekler Product movement, through which we can help more than 300 small producers to be present and competitive on the market.
However I believe we can talk about a bigger picture, bigger than the short food chain, bigger than good food or healthy lifestyle.
This issue extends to the economic, social and cultural life of the member states, affects agriculture, health care, tourism, but also the issue of vocational education.
Regarding innovation and resource efficiency, The Committee of the Regions recently adopted the opinion on "Resource efficiency opportunities in the building sector", as the rapporteur of the opinion I am glad to find in this conclusion the principles on which the opinion was based.
I would like to specially welcome that in addition to the smart cities concept, appears the concept of modernized rural areas.
We should pay special attention to the member states of Central and Eastern Europe, and if necessary, find additional resources too.
It is our strong belief, that modernization and development of these rural and urban areas shouldn’t be based on the adaptation of the redundant technologies of the modern states, but on the deployment of new, innovative techniques and processes.
Thank you for your attention.
